Our Privacy Philosophy

NoPhones is built on a simple principle: no accounts required. You can use the full app without signing up, creating a profile, or giving us your email.

Your screen time data, which apps you block, and your streak progress stay on your device. We use anonymous analytics to improve the app, but this data is never linked to your identity.

1. No Accounts, No Data Collection

NoPhones does not require you to create an account. There is no email, no password, no profile. This means:

  • We have no way to identify you
  • We cannot track your usage across devices
  • We cannot sell data we don't have

2. All Data Stays on Your Device

All information about your app blocking preferences, streaks, and unlock history is stored exclusively on your iPhone using:

  • UserDefaults: For preferences and settings
  • Keychain: For sensitive streak data
  • FileManager: For local data persistence

We have no servers that receive, store, or process your personal data.

3. Analytics & Third-Party Services

NoPhones uses Firebase for analytics and app configuration. This helps us understand how the app is used and deliver updates.

What Firebase collects:

  • Anonymous usage data (app opens, feature usage)
  • Device type, OS version, and app version
  • Anonymous installation identifier
  • Crash reports and performance data

What we do NOT collect:

  • Which specific apps you block (Screen Time data stays on device)
  • Your streak count or unlock history
  • Any personal information, email, or name
  • Location, contacts, photos, or device content

No account required. You can use NoPhones without signing up for anything. All analytics data is anonymous and not linked to your identity.

4. Apple Screen Time Integration

NoPhones uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to block apps. These APIs are designed by Apple to be privacy-preserving:

  • App selection tokens are anonymized by Apple
  • We cannot see the names or identifiers of apps you select
  • All blocking happens locally on your device

5. In-App Purchases

Any in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive:

  • A confirmation that a purchase was made
  • No payment information
  • No personal identifying information

6. What We Cannot Do

Due to our privacy-first architecture, we cannot:

  • Reset your streak remotely
  • Recover your data if you delete the app
  • Sync your data to a new device
  • See any information about your usage

These limitations are features, not bugs. They guarantee your privacy.

7. Children's Privacy

NoPhones may be used by children under parental supervision. Since we collect no personal information from any user, there is no risk of collecting children's data. The app is compliant with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

8. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page. However, our commitment to collecting no data makes significant changes unlikely.
